Bottle and glass of Ramey Russian River Valley Pinot Noir

2020 Pinot Noir,
Russian River Valley

$60 / bottle

A fresh, refined expression of Russian River Pinot. Rigorous analysis of the world’s best Pinot Noirs guided our winemaking practices—clonal selection, whole-cluster fermentation, and an anaerobic approach.

The 2020 vintage comes entirely from Kilcullen Vineyard. In 2020, weather warmed up after bloom, with temperatures slightly higher than normal through the rest of the season. Tiny yields increased the rate of harvest in August and into September.

Harvest Date: Aug 20
Brix: 23.0˚ average
Soil: Goldridge fine sandy loam
Clones: Pommard
AVA: Russian River Valley

Varietal Composition: 100% Pinot Noir
Fermentation: Tank fermented with native yeast and 25% whole cluster. Native malolactic fermentation in barrel
Aging: As traditionally practiced in Burgundy, we use an anaerobic approach with our Pinot Noir to preserve freshness. It was aged sur lies with monthly bâtonnage and spent 18 months in 45% new French barrels (François Frères and Taransaud). The wine was then lightly fined with egg white and bottled without filtration in June 2022.
