A wine club exclusive; this lot was so riveting that we were compelled to share a 100% Malbec with our members. This rare red is not to be missed.

Vintage

This is a terror-driven wine inspired by David Ramey’s years as the Winemaker at Chalk Hill Winery. Pictured here is David Ramey with the Chalk Hill appellation behind him. Chalk Hill’s climate allows for full tannin development while capturing the core fruit components of Malbec—plum and blackberry. The 2022 vintage experienced moderately warm temperatures through July that helped acclimatize vines before heat spikes in mid-August and early September spurred harvest.

Harvest Date: Sept 6
Brix: 24.1˚ avg

Winemaking

Fermentation: Native-yeast and malolactic fermentations took place in barrel.
Aging: The 2022 Malbec rested on its lees for 18 months in 20% new French oak barrels with quarterly bâtonnage to coat the tannins and integrates the wood. The wine was then lightly fined with egg whites and bottled without filtration in June 2024.
