2017 Cabernet Sauvignon, Cooley Ranch

$100 / bottle
Purchase

Mountain Cabernet grown at the apex of Sonoma County, above Rockpile. Historic farmland overlooks Lake Sonoma with only a sliver planted to vines. The high elevation yields a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon of depth and grandeur.

Vineyard

The ranch, in its sixth generation of Cooley family ownership, is located in the wilderness above Lake Sonoma. Black bears, mountain lions, bobcats, eagles and deer roam its meadows and ravines, with oak, madrone, massive green boulders, and natural springs punctuating the landscape. Sitting above the marine layer, the Ramey block sits at 1,325 elevation, which informs the wine’s complexity and powerful tannins.

Harvest Date: Oct 6
Brix: 25.0˚
Soil: The soil in our block is Montara series, derived from weathered Serpentinite, a metamorphic rock. Serpentinite comes in a range of greens and is named for its visual and textural resemblance to snake scales.
AVA: Sonoma
