Vintage Notes

“Shows amazing vibrancy and purity of flavor, brimming with juicy, lemon-scented green apple, white peach and tangerine notes, enlivened by zesty acidity and a long, persistent aftertaste that maintains focus and depth. Drink now through 2020.” 94 pts, #38 of the Top 100 Wines of 2016, James Laube, Wine Spectator (June 30, 2016)

2013 summed up to be a perfect vintage with clear sunny days and cool evenings.  This produced a long, moderate growing season with extended hang time and even ripening, resulting in a full range of flavors while retaining natural acidity.

We press the whole clusters for delicacy. Native-yeast and full native malolactic fermentation take place in barrel, with sur lies bâtonnage.  After aging 18 months in 30% new François Frères French oak barrels, this Chardonnay was fined and settled in tank. It was then bottled without filtration.

Winemaker Notes

Our Ritchie Chardonnay walks the fine line between richness & delicacy.  It has a complex and harmonious mouthfeel that balances power & elegance.
