Vintage Notes

Our fourth vintage of this appellation-level Syrah, it’s a blend of 78% Shanel Vineyard, 16% Cole Creek Vineyard and 6% Rodgers Creek Vineyard.  Shanel being on the eastern, warmer side of Sonoma Mountain, just at the limit of the Sonoma Coast appellation, it provides a richer, fruitier expression of Syrah, while the Rodgers Creek contributes the cool-climate, savory character that to us defines Syrah.   We harvested these sites on October 1, 15 & 23.

Winemaking

Co-fermented with 5% Viognier and with 25% whole Syrah clusters, the wine went through native yeast and malolactic fermentations, rested sur lies for over two years in half new French oak barrels and was bottled without filtration in February 2013.

Winemaker Notes

This blend combines for a smooth, supple elegant wine which will pair well with grilled sausages, duck breast, roast pork or chicken and any sort of lamb.
