2003 Claret, Napa Valley
Winemaker Notes
Claret is an English word meaning red wine from Bordeaux. We use it to signify a blend of the Bordeaux varieties so as not to be limited by the 75% varietal labeling regulation. Blended from the better lots remaining after making our two vineyard wines, this vintage is 86% from the Jericho Canyon Vineyard and 14% from the Diamond Mountain vineyard, and is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petite Verdot. While it was aged in barrels as the above two wines, no new barrels were used.
