2001 Claret, Napa Valley
Claret is an English word meaning wine from Bordeaux. We use it to signify a blend of the Bordeaux varieties so as not to be limited by the 75% varietal labeling regulation. Blended from the better lots remaining after making our two vineyard wines, this vintage is 80% from the Jericho Canyon Vineyard and 20% from the Diamond Mountain vineyard, and is 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Cabernet Franc and 17% Merlot. While it was aged in barrels as the above two wines, no new barrels were used.
