Review

Only the third vintage for this cuvee and comprised of 93% Syrah (57% Shanel Vineyard, 35% Rodgers Creek Vineyard, and 8% Cole Creek Vineyard) and 7% co-fermented Viognier, the 2009 Ramey Syrah Sonoma Coast is a gorgeous Syrah on all account. Aged 24 months in 60% new barrels, it possesses classic aromas and flavors of crème de cassis, spice-box, licorice, and hints of roasted meats on the nose. Medium to full-bodied, rich, and concentrated, with layers of sweet fruit and an overall poised, focused feel, it can be enjoyed now, or cellared for over a decade.
