Platt Vineyard is located just five miles from the Pacific, and benefits from the cool marine influence. The soils are Goldridge Loam, uplifted from ancient ocean floor, planted with low-vigor rootstock (420A) to the Wente selection chosen from one of Ramey’s Hyde Vineyard blocks. The Platt vineyard Chardonnay is the most terroir driven of all of Ramey’s wines in this vintage, showing a remarkable combination of minerality and acidity throughout. It impresses with gorgeous aromas of pear, orchard fruits and lemon zest, woven together with smoke, flint and crushed stones making this impossible to resist. This is beautifully balanced and remains well focused through the mineral driven finish. This is yet another sensational Chardonnay from David Ramey which should not be missed. (Best 2016-2025)
