The producer's third vintage from this relatively cool site, this wine is beautifully wrapped in lavender and smoky grilled meat. There is 6% Viognier cofermented with the Syrah. Turned earth, game and white pepper give it varietal complexity and integrity, with a powerfully bright thread of acidity and silky freshness.

Blackberries, black olives, leafy herbs, flowers, and a beautiful meatiness emerge from the 2014 Syrah Cole Creek Vineyard. From a site in the Russian River Valley and cofermented with 6% Viognier, it has an Hermitage-like density, fine, fine tannin, medium body, and a great finish. Give it a few years.

Review

The 2014 Syrah Cole Creek Vineyard is dark, sensual and polished, with notable fruit richness and overall intensity. There is plenty of depth to the dark red cherry and plum flavors. Beams of tannin extend the mid-palate and finish in this attractive, flavorful Syrah. This is an especially rich, voluptuous style, and yet there is plenty of structure.

Review

Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2014 Syrah Cole Creek Vineyard has a nose of warm blueberries and plums with underlying baking spice, black pepper and tar hints. Medium-bodied, the palate of this tank sample is already open for business, with plenty of expressive black fruit, spice characters and velvety tannins, finishing with great persistence.
