The wine showed a dark ruby color. Blackberry, raspberry, cherry cola, cassis, vanilla and oak each arrived on an ethereal nose. Blackberry, raspberry preserves, cherry cola, dark chocolate, licorice and oak followed on the palate that showed bold, yet nicely balanced berry fruit. The wine exhibited excellent structure and length, along with velvety tannins. This lushly-textured wine would pair well with braised lamb shanks or a rich beef stew. Well-structured and appealingly savory, with blueberry and smoky cured meat aromas and focused flavors of dark plum, underbrush and pepper. Drink now through 2026.

From a range of vineyards including Cole and Rodgers Creek, this blend is thick and soft, highlighted in charcuterie, black licorice and tar aromas. Birch and leather add more savory personality, as the nose continues to suggest the aromatic landscape of an Italian deli. It's cofermented with a small percentage of Viognier.

The 2014 Syrah (Sonoma Coast) is striking in its beauty. Aromatically expressive and dense on the palate, the 2014 is a classic David Ramey Syrah built on intense fruit and structure. In this vintage, the fruit is decidedly red-toned in character. Drink the 2014 over the next handful of years.

Co-fermented with 3% Viognier, the 2014 Syrah Sonoma Coast has an intense nose of crushed black cherries and black berries with floral hints of roses and potpourri, plus touches of wild thyme and garrigue. Medium-bodied, it delivers a lot of fruit and earthy flavors with rounded tannins and great length.
