The Woolsey Road Vineyard Chardonnay is another extremely compelling wine from David Ramey. This fantastic Chardonnay comes from a cool site, with Old Wente cuttings taken from Ramey’s Chardonnay blocks in Platt Vineyard, which had been selected from the Hyde Vineyard. As this wine begins to open, gorgeous aromas of pear, lemon zest, crushed almond, and underlying hints of smoke all take shape in the glass. On the palate, this is beautifully textured and expressive, displaying wonderful balance and precision. The finish is marked by a beautiful touch of acidity keeping it fresh and inviting. Overall, this is a absolutely striking effort from the team at Ramey. (Best 2016-2026)

This light yellow colored Chardonnay from Ramey is very good. It opens with a light oak and lemon bouquet with a hint of honey. On the palate, this wine is medium bodied, slightly acidic and mouthwatering. The flavor profile is a mineral infused lemon with notes of oak and pineapple. I also detected hints of honey and almond. The finish is dry and its flavors linger and last for a while. This Chard would pair well with chicken cordon bleu. Enjoy - Ken

Showing the implicit richness and slight restraint that are the unmistable marks of its maker, this ripe and yet tightly wound Chardonnay is again about promise as much or more so than it is about immediate gratification.  It is supple and slightly oily on entry, but it is far from an open and outgoing wine and tends to narrow a bit and get a touch chalky as it crosses the palate with amply acidity closing in at the finish.

The single-vineyard wines include the 2013 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard, which offers up plenty of tangerine oil, apple blossom, white citrus and wet pebbles in a medium to full-bodied, light, attractive, clean style. Drink now-2020.

The 2013 Chardonnay Woolsey Road Vineyard is one of the most expressive and complete wines in David Ramey's range. Apricot, peach, smoke, crushed rocks and dried herbs all blossom in the glass. The Woolsey captures a gorgeous stylistic middle ground that balances richness with nuance. The 2013 finishes with great texture that points to a brilliant future. Woolsey Road was planted by the Martinelli family for David Ramey from clonal material taken from Platt.
