The 2013 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is is sourced from 77% Martinelli Charles Ranch Vineyard; 23% Platt Vineyard. This elegant Chardonnay delivers pretty aromas of fresh sliced pear, quince, white peach, lemon zest along with vanilla blossom, sliced almond and flinty minerals. It is beautifully balanced with wonderful acidity leading up to the bright, focused finish. This is showing beautifully right now and should continue to do so over the next few years. Medium-light golden yellow; initially restrained, green apple aroma that developed depth, brightness, and intensity with airing in the glass; medium-full body; crisp, citrus and white peach flavors with vibrant acidity and a note of stony minerality; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended.

The 2013 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast) is a gorgeous introduction to the vintage at Ramey. Lemon curd, white flowers, mint and lightly honeyed notes open up in an expressive, beautifully textured Chardonnay to drink now and over the next decade. Martinelli's Charles Ranch and Platt are the main fruit sources.

Lean mouthfeel, bright acidity, flintiness, tight grip, and striking power from a strong backbone. Wonderful focus and balance. The fruit comes on the finish: Granny Smith apple, pear, mandarin orange. The chilly winds and thick fog of the high-elevation Sonoma Coast region bring great character to the fruit of the wine. Who says California doesn’t have great terroir? A village Chardonnay for the aficionado enthusiast.
