The 2012 Sonoma Coast Chardonnay from Ramey is sourced from 70% Martinelli Charles Ranch Vineyard, 16% Platt Vineyard, 11% Frostwatch Vineyard and 3% Three Sisters Vineyard. As this chardonnay opens, it releases wonderful aromas of ripe pear, lemon zest, honeysuckle and wonderful minerality which resonates through the wine. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous texture underlined by a lovely streak of acidity which carries on through the finsh. The 2012 is another excellent appellation Chardonnay from David Ramey that should contunie to show well over the next few years. (Best 2015-2020)

Two excellent Chardonnays. The Sonoma Coast is fragrant, supple, full bodied, and crisp, with fine balance, intense flavors (pear, apple, lemon peel, roasted nut, honey, toast), and a long finish. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels, 16% new. Unfiltered. 14.5%

From a quartet of cool, coastal vineyard sites, including Platt, a single-vineyard designate for the producer, this is a crisp expression of honeycomb and green apple that bristles in acidity and nuanced oak. Fresh and alive, it has plenty of celebratory fruit flavor while remaining savory and elegant.

Lemon peel, white flowers and mint are some of the notes that take shape in the 2012 Chardonnay (Sonoma Coast). Softened a bit by the generosity of the year, the 2012 is unusually open and expressive today. Drink this supple, textured Chardonnay over the next handful of years.

Sourced mostly from cool vineyard sites, 70% from the Martinelli Charles Ranch Vineyard, with a variety of clones. The wine reveals stone fruit and gunflint, but it’s the freshness, the focus, and balance that are most remarkable. Ready to drink now. Sees 12 months in 16% new oak.
