Top Napa Cabernet Wines for The Cellar Earthy, ferrous stone aromas mixed with tight ripe blackcurrant fruits, followed by a mocha, cedar and smoke hint on the palate, plus bright acidity and firm tannins. The estate’s founder and winemaker, David Ramey, previously worked at Dominus for the Moueix family as well as Rudd and Chalk Hill.

Medium to medium-dark ruby; attractive, intense, cedary, cassis and black cherry fruit aroma with hints of dried herbs and dark chocolate; full body; big, rich, concentrated, textured, red and black fruit flavors with firm structure and well integrated oak; full tannin; lingering aftertaste. Shows good depth and some complexity as it developed with airing in the glass, and should reward five more years of bottle aging. Very highly recommended.

Marked by a dose of charry, smoky oak, this offers dense flavors of dark berry, currant, black licorice and dried herb. Ends with gutsy tannins and a persistent finish. Needs cellaring. Best from 2015 through 2024.

Ramey produced excellent 2011 reds, as these attest. The Pedregal Vineyard is better still: fleshy in texture and ripely flavored; a rich Cabernet with fine character (cassis, black currant, blueberry jam), good balance, and a long, mildly tannic, spicy-toasty finish. Can be aged. [drink between 2016-2022]

Glass-staining ruby.  Heady aromas of cherry compote, pipe tobacco and vanilla bean, along with smoke and incense accents and a hint of candied rose.  Fleshy and appealingly sweet, offering sappy red fruit flavors and a suave floral quality that expands with air.  Velvety tannins build slowly on the finish, with the vanilla and rose notes strong echoing.  Quite generous for the vintage, with the depth and structure to age.
