Bright gold. Deeper, richer and more powerful than the Sonoma Coast bottling, offering aromas and flavors of poached pear, papaya, orange zest and smoky minerals. Juicy, palate-coating orchard fruit and floral flavors are lifted by juicy acidity and sharpened by a gingery nuance. Shows very good energy and clarity on the tangy, focused, very long finish.

The 2009 Chardonnay Russian River Valley is a bit rounder and softer than the Sonoma Coast bottling. This is all texture, depth and finesse from the very first taste. Dried apricots, light floral honey and pistachio are some of the notes that wrap around the creamy, inviting finish. The vineyard sources include Dutton, Martinelli, King, Rochioli and Green. Drink: 2012-2017.

Ripe apples and citrus and a full helping of sweet, slightly toasty oak merge seamlessly in the deep aromas and ample flavors of this nicely filled offering, and, while showing plenty of flesh, the wine is impeccably balanced and is free of any extraneous fat. It is insistently rich and charged with lots of freshening fruity acid at the finish, and it is both delicious right now and built to last for a very long time.

The RRV is full bodied and crisp; a wine with good depth of fruit, firm acidity, and a persistent finish, tasting of pineapple, mint, lemon peel, roasted nut, sweet corn, and modest oak.
