2008 Carneros District

This year's blend comes 54% from two Sangiacomo vineyards, Tall Grass and Green Acres; 20% from Larry Hyde's own Bayview Vineyard (this is his personal vineyard and not the Hyde Vineyard, but also in Napa), 11% Hudson Vineyard and 15% Platt Vineyard (Sonoma Coast), to lighten the blend. The heavier, clay-based soils of Carneros produce wines with a broad, full mouthfeel.

90 Stephen Tanzer’s International Wine Cellar May/June 10
Greenish gold. Pure, scented aromas of Meyer lemon, honeydew, chamomile and crushed stone. Quite rich, spicy and tactile but refreshingly dry, with a brisk, mineral tone to the sweet melon and citrus flavors. Dense but light on its feet, finishing with an echo of peach skin and resounding length.

91 (two puffs) Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine October 2010
More open in aroma than on the palate, this wine shares familial traits in its firm and slightly citrusy flavors. It has good depth to match up with its still nascent fruit, and if more generous than its mate below, it comes with much of its texture. Both in the nose and structure, it suggests a lot more to be found with a few years of quiet time in the cellar.

91 California Grapevine. Vol. 36, No. 3, June-July 2010
Medium-light golden yellow; attractive, intense, nutty, citrus and spiced apple aroma with hints of cinnamon and butterscotch; full body; rich, citrussy, green apple flavors with a crisp finish; lingering aftertaste. Very highly recommended.
