2009 Chardonnay, Platt Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine
January 1, 2013
Ramey's remarkable string of successes in 2009 continues with this very bright and vibrant young wine, and, while sporting a bit of immediate fruit in league with its generous oak, this is a com-pact, very deep, close-to-nervy Chardonnay whose tighter construction and sense of unrealized potential makes it one of the more age-worthy of the bunch. It is certain to find increased polish and complexity with time, and it deserves to be set aside for at least two or three years.
