eRobertParker, Executive Wine Seminar Blind Tasting, June 21, 2005

Special mention must be made of our clear-cut winner, 2002 Ramey "Ritchie Vineyard." This was simply a stunningly delicious Chardonnay, as good as it gets. We continue to be amazed that David Ramey’s Chardonnays are not only widely available, but also sanely priced. The 2002 Ritchie Vineyard was the best among many awesome Ramey Chardonnays that we’ve tasted in recent years.

2002 Ramey "Ritchie Vineyard" (Russian River Valley) - $60 - 30 points (eight 1st, one 2nd, four 3rd) - 96 rating Light straw. Rich, buttery, knockout nose features a ton of toasty oak with peaches and lemon custard in the background; the toasty character really dominates. There are also attractive floral scents. Very lively and creamy on entry with incredible acidity; this wine dances all over the palate. The tropical fruit is ripe and delicious. This wine seduced all 17 of us in every way possible, including a very long, consistent finish. Bravo David Ramey for crafting the "wine of the night."
